| ANYTIME/ANYWHERE LEARNING
As used in the context of our curriculum, technology provides
learning experiences which enhance and expand those provided
by media such as textbooks and class discussions. We are committed to providing students with the tools they require to learn
more effectively, more deeply, and more thoroughly. Technology,
like reading and writing, is an everyday avenue for learning.
Because we feel strongly that technology facilitates learning,
we use it extensively throughout our curriculum so that it
is available in every class, for every project or assignment,
and to every student equally.
Our wireless network allows students to access a wide range
of Internet resources. They use our on-line library catalog,
subscription services (American National Biography, Lexis
Nexis Scholastic Universe), and on-line textbooks, such as
Beyond Books and RiverDeep. Because every student has a laptop,
these resources are available for her use when the student
needs them from any location on our campus.
Student laptops are equipped with Microsoft Office Suite,
including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for presentations and
projects. Other software includes iMovie and PhotoShop for
digital editing, Geometer's Sketchpad for Geometry, PageMaker
for yearbook and newspaper design, and Inspiration, a project
design tool. |
