Campus Enhancements

AGS is growing!

During summer of 2018, AGS underwent renovations to old – and creation of new – spaces on campus, including four new STEAM classrooms, an expanded Middle School Dining Hall, the enhanced Upper School Commons, and an updated and accessible entrance and reception space. Enjoy the story of our progress through the photo gallery below.

Phase I of improvements included the following priority projects:

New Modular STEAM Classrooms: To address the growing needs of our school, Science Department, and interdisciplinary work, AGS added four new modular STEAM classrooms, located at the southern edge of the backfield and connected to the lower level patio entrance by a new walkway. The Science Department and STEAM Interdisciplinary Specialist have worked closely with the planners and architects to design the ideal classrooms for our students, teachers, and curriculum. The center also includes two restrooms, a porch to overlook the field, and flexible furnishings. The two existing modular science labs, located adjacent to faculty/staff parking, will be converted into a maker space!

Updated and Accessible Entry Experience: To accommodate all community members and AGS visitors, AGS relocated its main entrance to an accessible ramp. The new entry space includes an updated reception area, offices, an updated conference room space (currently the Presentation Room), and a larger Spirit and Used Uniform Sale for our Parents’ Circle. This entrance also includes an updated admission lobby and new landscaping.

Expanded Middle School Dining Room: To accommodate growing enrollment in the Middle School, the current upstairs dining room has been expanded to include the square footage provided by the former adjacent classroom. The entire space—flooring, lighting, decor, furniture—has been updated, and the design also allows for a portion of the room to be partitioned into a smaller meeting or classroom space when not in use for dining.

Expanded Upper School Commons: To accommodate the entire Upper School in a dedicated lunch dining space, the current Upper School Student Center has been expanded into the adjacent classroom to create an Upper School Commons gathering space. The entire space—flooring, lighting, decor, furniture—has been renovated. The Upper School Commons now functions as a Student Center and common area, and the design, like its Middle School counterpart, allows for the room to be partitioned into smaller multi-use rooms as needed.
