THE ARTS AT AGS                   

The Fine Arts offerings at AGS enhance each girl's talents and self-expression by challenging students to create and to aspire through the arts. At the core of the curriculum lies the opportunity for students to express those creative instincts that make us human. Performing and visual arts find expression in a variety of programs designed to allow students to develop their artistic talents and their aesthetic intelligence.

Visual Arts

Visual Arts courses are designed to provide a well-rounded art experience for all students. By focusing on art production, art history, art criticism, and aesthetics, students develop a basic art vocabulary, an understanding of a wide variety of two- and three-dimensional art media, and an appreciation for various styles of art. Course offerings provide the versatility for students to express themselves through a variety of media.

Performing Arts

The performing arts program at AGS gives students the opportunity to develop and share their talents. The discipline of quiet practice and study coupled with the demands of public performance engender confidence and a deeper sense of self. The study of music and drama provides students with unique insights into these artistic forms and allow them the opportunity to explore and to develop their own interests and talents.
