| Academic Disciplines
Courses are offered in the traditional college preparatory areas of:
• English and Language Arts
• Mathematics
• History and Social Studies
• Science
• Modern and Classical Languages
• The Fine Arts: music, visual arts, and drama
• Physical Education
Standards promoted by national and international professional
organizations in each discipline are at the foundation of
our academic programs, for example in math (NCTM, National
Council of Teachers of Mathematics), English (NCTE, National
Council of Teachers of English), social sciences (NCSS, National
Council for the Social Studies), and science (NSF, National
Science Foundation). In addition, other guidelines are provided
by the Southern Association of Independent Schools, the Southern
Association of Colleges and Schools, and the College Board's
academic competencies identified as necessary for college-bound
students.
