MENTOR PROGRAM

Unique to Atlanta Girls’ School, our Mentoring Program has as its main purpose to provide our students with appropriate opportunities for each of them to develop meaningful relationships with women in the greater Atlanta community. These relationships provide our students with role models and supporters to whom they would not otherwise have access. Studies have confirmed the positive influence a Mentor can have on an adolescent’s academic performance, self-esteem and ability to resist negative social influences. This positive influence is especially true for young women and girls. Our students benefit from interactions with women who reflect the range of opportunities awaiting young women today. Although participation in the program is not required, it is highly encouraged.

GIRL TALK

Atlanta Girls' School has an official chapter of Girl Talk, a nationally recognized student-to-student mentoring program. Through the Girl Talk program, Upper School girls serve as Girl Talk leaders to Middle School advisory groups, facilitating weekly meetings that provide a place for the girls to openly discuss issues they face every day.  Our students build supportive relationships as they participate in these weekly meetings, friendship building activities, and annual Girl Talk community service projects.  We believe our girls will carry the friendship bonds and life lessons experienced in Girl Talk meetings wherever they go in life.
